Martin Wallberg American Legion Post 3 was the first American Legion post chartered in Union County, NJ.
We hope this finds you and your loved ones safe and well.
Thank you to all of our members who have visited and supported the Post Canteen and everyone stepping up to help out at the Outdoor Craft Fairs that we held. Again, especially after watching everyone come together, but always, I’m honored to be the Commander of what is truly an American Legion Family at Post 3.
We have almost half of our membership paid, thank you everyone who has sent in their dues.
We hope to see you at the Veterans Day ceremony, but please keep in mind that masks must be worn and social distancing guidelines will be enforced for everyone’s safety, not only at the Monument but also back at the Post– tables will be set up upstairs and outside (weather permitting) to accommodate anyone who would like to stop by.
It is with a heavy heart that I have to share that David O’Connor has joined Post Everlasting. We received notification that he passed away on October 29th, 2020 and we are still waiting for information on any arrangements. Please keep David’s family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.
Randy Grizzard
Post 3 Commander
Thank you to all of the Unit 3 members who helped make the two Craft Fairs such a huge success! It was truly a team effort with the SAL and Legion members there to help along the way. If you missed it, since both were advertised but put together pretty quickly, have no fear, we’re already planning another one for March which we’ll be talking about at our next meeting on November 18th, at 7:00pm at the Post canteen.
With the Craft Fairs also came a few new members that I would like to welcome! We hope to see you at our next meeting and upcoming events.
We now have a new email address for Unit 3 - alaunit3nj@gmail.com, moving forward you’ll start receiving the minutes and other Unit 3 related notices from either Kristen, our newly appointed Secretary, or myself. We promise we won’t bombard your inbox but if you’d like to be removed from the list, just reply to the email letting us know and it will be taken care of. You can also use that email for any suggestions or questions you may have.
We have had some questions about when poppy making will resume, and for now, we are going to hold off a little longer for everyone’s safety. As soon as restrictions are lifted and we feel that people’s safety isn’t at risk, we’ll pick a night and get going again.
In the spirit of Service, not Self,
Sharon A. Knight
